So, to recap - my CLOG footage looks basically ok in both Premiere and Resolve when I use the Canon official conversion LUT, which suggests the footage itself is fine and that the problem must be to do with my settings in Resolve. From my own tests, in my own shooting style / lighting styles I prefer CLOG. And secondly, I opt for CLOG over CLOG3 because I don't really need the extra dynamic range and I find CLOG less noisy in the shadows. Firstly, I have a few projects ready to edit which were shot in CLOG, so I need to solve this problem for those. I may try this in future, but I have two issues. Let me know if I have misunderstood though. I'd like to avoid using the conversions LUT from Canon if possible because I heard Resolve's colour management process can provide a high quality result. Are you saying you manually grade your LOG footage from scratch rather than using any colour management or conversion settings? I would prefer to use a colour management conversion myself for consistency and speed. When I use the same Resolve settings as you have used, my footage appears as ungraded LOG. In Adobe Premiere I would normally do this by applying a conversion LUT from Canon. When I get my CLOG footage into Resolve I want to convert it to Rec 709 as a starting point for grading.
